A reference resource for TISD customers
  • Click on your "Start" button, and click on "Control Panel". If you have the classic Start menu arrangement, you will first have to go to "Settings", then to "Control Panel". (In Windows 2000, you will have to go to My Computer, then click Control Panel).
  • Once in the control panel, you will either see "Network and Internet Connections" or "Network Connections" depending on whether the computer is set for category or classic view. Click on whichever you see.
  • If you had to click "Network and Internet Connections", you will now see a link for "Network Connections", click it.


  • Now, click the link in the left-hand column which says "Create a new connection". This will start an Internet Connection Wizard.


  • Click "Next" on the first screen.
  • Make sure that on the second screen that "Connect to the Internet" is selected. Then click "Next".
  • On the Getting Ready screen, select the option to "Set up my connection manually". Then click "Next".
  • On the screen that asks how you want to connect to the Internet, make sure that "Connect using a dial-up modem" is selected, then click "Next".
  • It will ask you for a connection name, simply enter "TISD". Once you have it entered, click "Next".
  • Next, it will ask you for a phone number. Currently we have two access numbers, feel free to use either, and keep the other written down in case of difficulties. When typing the number EXCLUDE the area code unless you are in another area code or require long-distance, and dashes. Click "Next" when done.

  • Now the wizard will ask you for your account information including user name and password. Enter the information as it is requested. If you do not know this information, you will have to contact our technical support with account verification such as an account number, physical address, and/or a phone number on file.
  • Check the boxes for "Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer." and "Make this the default Internet Connection". Then click "Next".
  • Finally, on the last screen of the New Connection Wizard, check the box for "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop". This will add an icon for TISD on your desktop. Simply double-click this icon, and click "Dial" to connect to the Internet!
