A reference resource for TISD customers
  • Double-click on My Computer on your desktop, then double-click Control Panel.
  • Double-click on the Internet Options icon. Once Internet Options comes up, click on the Connections tab.
  • Click the Setup button at the top of the page. This will start an Internet Connection Wizard.
  • Select the option that says I want to set up my connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN). Then click Next.
  • Select the option that says I connect through a phone line and modem. Then click Next.
  • Enter one of our two dial-in access numbers: 570-4002 or 582-4800. Do not include the dashes or area code. Then click Next.
  • Now, enter your User Name and Password which you set up with us, make sure that the letters of both are in the correct case. Click Next when done.
  • Finally, the Internet Connection Wizard will ask you for a Connection Name. Change this to "TISD" for easier troubleshooting and identification. Case does not matter on the name. Click Next.
  • The wizard will ask you if you want to create an email account. Select No [This article does not cover email setup, see Email Setup for Outlook Express to set up email later]. Then click Next.
  • Click Finish. Close any remaining windows that are open. Try opening Internet Explorer, and it will ask you to connect.

 

If you would like to add an icon to your desktop for easy access, follow the steps below. Otherwise, when you open Internet Explorer, the browser will automatically ask you to connect.

  • Double click on My Computer on your desktop, then double click on Dial-up Networking.
  • In here, you should have an icon that says "TISD". Right click on the icon, and click Create Shortcut.
  • You will get a notification that the shortcut could not be placed there, and asks if you would like it placed on the desktop instead. Select Yes.
  • You should now have an icon on your desktop that says Shortcut to TISD. Simply double click this icon to connect to the Internet.
