For this walk through, you will need a computer that is hard-wired (connected using an Ethernet cable) to your router. If you are on a wireless computer, you cannot connect to the router without knowing the password. If you do not have an Ethernet cable, you can either purchase one at any office supply center, otherwise, you will have to reset the router, and enter your configuration information for your connection again. This walk through also assumes that the router's default IP address and administration user name and password are at defaults. If you have changed either of these, you will be unable to log into the router using this walk through and you will have to reset the router, and enter your configuration information for your connection again.

  • First, open Internet Explorer or your preferred Internet browser.
  • Next, go up to the address bar at the top of the browser, and backspace all text out of it.
  • Now, type in the router's IP address which is 192.168.2.1 by default. If everything is connected correctly, it will load a Belkin Status page.
  • On the left-hand side, click Connection Type under Internet/WAN.
  • You will be directed to a login page. By default, Belkin routers are not configured with a password, so just hit Submit.
  • You will then see a page with several connection type options, click the one that says Static IP. Then click Next.
  • Now you will be asked for your IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. If there are numbers in these boxes, they need to be changed to match those specific to your account. Enter the corresponding information in each indicated box using the information that the installer left with you after the installation. If you have lost this information, please contact our technical support.

The subnet mask for common regular residential and premium residential accounts is 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway is the same as your IP address, except the last set is going to be a 1. (ie. 172.16.xxx.1). Businesses or residential accounts with a public IP address have different subnet mask settings and gateways. If you still cannot connect using the information provided, please contact our technical support via email This email address is being protected from spambots. • Once you have entered the IP information in the indicated boxes, click the Apply button at the bottom of the page. The router will then apply the changes and restart. Once complete, it should redirect you to a page asking for DNS server information.
  • Uncheck the box that says Automatic from ISP. This will allow you to enter our DNS server information in the boxes underneath.
  • DNS 1 is 207.243.120.10 and DNS 2 is 207.243.120.20. Once you have that entered, press the Apply button again. The router will then apply the new changes and restart. Once complete, it should redirect you to the Belkin Status page again.
  • You can now close this window.
  • Try opening Internet Explorer or your preferred browser and if the configuration was successful, the browser should load your home page.
