Windows Vista & Windows 7

  • Click your Start button (the blue orb in the bottom left with the Windows logo in it), and go to Control Panel
  • In the control panel, you will see either Network and Internet or Network and Sharing Center depending on whether the computer is set for category or classic view. (If you have to click Network and Internet, click Network and Sharing Center on the Network and Internet page)


  • Click on the link on the left-hand side that says Change Adapter Settings (Windows 7) or Manage Network Connections (Windows Vista).
  • You will have a connection titled Local Area Connection, right-click on it and select Properties.
  • Double-click on the text for the component titled Internet Protocol Version 4, which will open a properties window for it.
  • Select Use the following IP address and Use the following DNS server addresses, and enter the corresponding information in each indicated box using the information that the installer left with you after the installation.


The subnet mask for common regular residential and premium residential accounts is, and the default gateway is the same as your IP address, except the last set is going to be a 1. (ie. 172.16.xxx.1).TISD’s DNS Servers are and

  • Click OK on the Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties window, and OK on the Local Area Connections Properties window.
  • Close all other windows which are open, and open Internet Explorer and make sure that the browser loads the web page. If it does, try a couple other web sites just to make sure the browser is not running off of cached web pages.
